Resilience, Empowerment and Growth

The Nest Community is a  volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation created to develop and maintain a community for the purposes of reducing social isolation, to provide advocacy, education and harm prevention strategies for women and children. We believe opportunities to learn, connect and create should be accessible to women and children of all backgrounds.

With no government funding, each week over 50 volunteers generously donate their time and energy to keep our doors open. There are no paid staff and yet, since we opened our doors only two and a half years ago,  we have have developed partnerships with 18 other organisations and communities through out Brisbane, and over 3500 women have visited and connected in our urban retreat based in a beautiful heritage listed home in Everton Park, Brisbane.

We believe fostering connections in the community will result in greater harmony and resilience. Our programs reduce social isolation through forming inter generational connections between women and children regardless of age, cultural or economic background.

People have forgotten what the human touch is, what it is to smile, for somebody to smile at them, somebody to recognise them, somebody to wish them well. The terrible thing is to be unwanted.
