The Nest supports building networks and friendships within our community while enhancing personal wellbeing by learning new sustainable craft skills that aren't costly. Our group sessions are not structured like our craft workshops. They are an informal inspiration incubator within a mentoring environment. Being part of The Nest social group promotes a positive self image for the individual and the greater community.
When you book into a workshop or social group at The Nest you are not just purchasing a creative experience for yourself, you are also contributing significantly towards making The Nest activities accessible to those less fortunate. As a not-for-profit organisation, the money we make goes directly back into our community programs.
We cater for morning and afternoon tea in all our sessions, so bookings are essential. Click on the sessions that you are interested in and follow the PayPal booking and payment system. If you have trouble booking in online please contact The Nest here. We look forward to meeting you soon!
Some of our social groups:
The Nest workshops are run by experience facilitators who can guide you through an inspiring creative process and in a supportive, embracing environment while connecting you with other women and children in the community. We aim to make our programs accessible to all women regardless of cultural or financial background. The Nest offers a limited number of spaces free of charge in workshops in exchange for helping us out around The Nest house on a volunteer basis. To apply email firstname.lastname@example.org
Our sessions introduce children to design, craft skills and project management. Beyond the sheer fun factor of being in a creative social learning environment, project based craft is a fantastic way to prepare your children for all those assignments that both school and life will throw at them in the coming years. The class environment is similar to a club and our heritage house is like a giant cubby house for young people.
FUNDED AND VOLUNTEER BASED PROGRAMS
We are very excited to announce that Brisbane City Council is funding several classes at The Nest during the school holidays! The Nest offers workshops for 10 - 17 year olds in addition to the BCC G'n'K Program and the BCC Chill Out Program.
BBC GOLD'n'Kids (G'n'K) Program:
Brisbane City Council recognises the important role that grandparents play in most children's lives. Council runs GOLD'n'Kids (G'n'K) activities designed for children aged 4 years and older and seniors to enjoy together.
BCC Chill Out Program:
Brisbane City Council's Chill Out Program is one of Brisbane's most popular youth programs for young people between 10 - 17 years old. Limit of 2 Chill Out workshops per participant.
For each workshop that you book your child into we ask that you apply sun protection to your child and provide them with a water bottle and a snack.
When you book your child into a retreat or workshop at The Nest you are not just purchasing a creative experience for your child but you are also contributing significantly towards making The Nest activities accessible to those less fortunate. As a not-for-profit organisation, the money we make goes directly into our community programs.
