Craft Stall
Honouring the tradition of gifting handmade

Showcasing the craft skills of our community
In the early days of The Nest Haberdashery, items for the Craft Stall would just appear. Customers would often buy reclaimed resources from us and return some days later with ‘something for the stall’.
While craft stalls are no longer necessary to fund our operations, we have maintained the tradition to offer a way for volunteers to contribute to The Nest that is less physically demanding than other programs. It’s a way for older volunteers to contribute, feel valued, and to participate from home.
The program aligns with The Nest’s Constitution by ensuring the inclusivity and empowerment of volunteers in a safe and supportive environment.
A group of experienced craft stall makers, called Red Robins lead the group and provide guidance about popular items. All volunteers are encouraged to participate and are welcome to make what they enjoy making.
We prioritise and celebrate creative sharing over perfectionism or sales and any items that don’t sell can be given away elsewhere. Volunteers may seek to improve their skills and learn from each other, but it is not a craft teaching program. It offers volunteers social connection and a sense of community and pride.
Red Robins have access to the Gladys Mary Studio each Monday afternoon and we host Craft Stalls a couple of times a year in the Gladys Mary Studio
