Secondary School Vouchers

Supporting textiles skills and reuse in younger generations

Providing free textile resources for secondary schools

School-based fashion programs are expensive to run, not just in terms of machinery and maintenance required, but also in resourcing materials. The Nest’s Secondary School Voucher initiative is part of our larger Stitch Together program, sponsored by Community Bank Samford. It aims to get our high quality reclaimed sewing supplies to the schools that need them most.

We’re passionate about supporting the development of textile skills, in a world where fast fashion dominates and Home Economics is no longer mandatory in schools.

In July 2025 we opened applications for a limited number of Secondary School Vouchers to help local teachers keep textiles skills alive and inspire interest in reclaimed resources amongst younger generations. Vouchers gave access to free resources from The Nest Haberdashery with a $500 voucher, equivalent to $1,500 worth of regular retail stock!

The calibre of applications was outstanding and we awarded the vouchers to the following schools in the Brisbane and Moreton Bay region:

Omni Academies of Learning
Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre
The Younity School
Clontarf Beach State High School
Bribie Island State High School
Indooroopilly State High School
The Gap State High School
Aviation High School
Wavell State High School
Northside Christian College
Samford Valley Steiner School
