Providing free textile resources for secondary schools

The Nest Community is passionate about supporting the development of textile skills in a world where fast fashion dominates, and Home Economics is no longer mandatory in schools.

School-based fashion programs are expensive to run, not just in terms of machinery and maintenance required, but also in resourcing materials.

Supported by Community Bank Samford, The Nest’s Secondary School Voucher initiative, part of our larger Stitch Together program, delivers our high-quality reclaimed sewing supplies to schools that need them most.

In 2025 we awarded $5000 worth of Secondary School Vouchers to 11 schools, valued at over $15,000 worth of retail stock.

Applications for our 2026 round are now open. We have 12 resource vouchers available, valued at $250 each, giving access to free resources from The Nest Haberdashery

Applications close 15 October, with successful applicants advised end of October.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A VOUCHER?

These vouchers are open to Secondary Schools within the Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN SCHOOLS APPLY?

To share the love, schools may only apply once each.

WHAT CAN THE VOUCHER BE USED FOR?

Vouchers are redeemable in The Nest Haberdashery, a treasure trove of low-cost reclaimed textile craft supplies spanning materials and equipment.

WHAT CONDITIONS APPLY TO THE VOUCHER?

Vouchers are non-transferable and not for personal use. Recipients also agree to share images of their students’ use of Nest materials back with The Nest Community.
